Although the exact numbers are not yet known, we do know that attendance was approximately the same as last year. Impressive, considering the weather. While Sunday’s weather was sub-prime at best, Friday’s weather was nothing short of sublime. Friday night’s crowd was larger than anticipated—it appeared to be the largest Friday night crowd in festival history.
Top Token Collectors
The top token collectors (by brewery) were:
1. Black Raven Brewing (by a landslide)
2. Schooner Exact Brewing
3. Northern Lights Brewing
4. Foggy Noggin Brewing
5. Diamond Knot Brewing
To call it a landslide is an understatement. While other booths may have enjoyed the occasional line, the backup at Black Raven was enormous all weekend. The Coco Jones Porter is worthy of the attention. That’s the Black Raven beer we heard most people talking about.
Schooner Exact brought a lot of different beers. No doubt the Seamstress Union Raspberry Wheat was a big hit, but my favorite (with a name I shouldn’t repeat here) was the blend: two parts Raspberry Wheat and one part Brown Ale. Sinfully delicious.
To be sure, Diamond Knot makes great beer, but their charge into the top five was certainly aided by the fact that Michael Wilton (guitar player for Queensryche) was pouring his Whip Ale at the Diamond Knot booth on Friday night. Diamond Knot brews Whip Ale to Wilton’s specifications.

Don't let today's threatening skies fool you. The National Weather Service gives us two thumbs up for the Washington Brewers Festival happening this weekend at Saint Edwards State Park in Kenmore. In fact, the forecast could be described as perfect for a beer festival. Expect there to be plenty of sunshine with highs nearing 70.

The Washington Beer Blog will have its feet on the street, its nose in the wind, and its ear to the ground. The goal is to make sure you know what’s going on at the festival while it’s still happening. Where’s the buzz cart? What are they pouring? What unexpected beer just showed up, and where? Who just ran out of beer? How crowded is the pint garden? Pretty much anything they can come up with to help you have a better festival experience.
You can find the Washington Beer Blog at the putting green, where you’ll have the opportunity to put your putting skills to the test and enter a drawing for season tickets to all Washington Beer Commission festivals. That’s right, sink a putt and you might score yourself free tickets to all of next year’s beer festivals.
Stop by the booth to say hello, give them a hot tip, or just because you need a handful of pretzels to munch on. They’ll have some other give-aways as well. You’ll just have to stop in and see then (or follow them online) to know what’s going on.
